First, you have to boot up your game and click on the Gather button on the home screen of the game. After that, click on the Public tab, and under this, you will find two options to host a public party or join a public party. If you want to join a public party, then you should know the name of the public party.
In case, you want to play with your friend only, then you have to click on the Private tab and tap on host a private party. After that, click on the host button then it will give you the party code, you have to share this with your friend. Then your friend should click on the join a party button, enter the party code, and then you and your friend can play privately.
