Abandoned systems aren’t extremely hard to find. However, you are going to want both an economy scanner and a conflict scanner to make finding them a lot easier. When you go to your galactic map to find a system to warp, you have to look for specific details in a system to determine if it might be an abandoned system or not.
The specific details you’re going to be looking for are when you look at the economy and/or conflict status they are either very low or not available which is a good sign that a system might be abandoned. You’ll know you’ve reached an abandoned system because there will be a slightly damaged space station that you can go to. When you go to it, there won’t be anyone there and the inside of the station will be red.
Finding wealthy systems is also very easy as all you need is an economy scanner and when you look at a system through the galaxy map, you have to look to see if that system has 3 stars/dots and if it does then it is a wealthy system.
