How to Set up your Dedicated server with SteamCMD to play Palworld

In this guide, you will find how to set up your dedicated server with SteamCMD to play Palworld. You first have to download Steam CMD, create a tart file for the server, and then join it.

Download Steam CMD

In this section, we will take you through the steps to download Steam CMD. By following the steps below, you will be able to download the Windows version and start executing different commands inside it.

  • First, you will need to download Steam CMD. Once you reach the web page, download Steam CMD for Windows.
  • After that, extract the Zip file and then open the Stean CMD.
    It will download some files and update the files if you already have them.
  • Once it’s done, input the following command and hit enter to log in.
login anonymous
  • Next, input the following command and press enter.
    It will start downloading the files.
app_update (dedicated server ID)
  • After that, input the exit command to close this window.

Create Start file

This section describes how to create a start file for your server. By following the steps below, you will be able to create a file and make some necessary changes inside it.

  • Open up the Steam CMD folder, go to steamapps, and then navigate to the common folder.
  • Open the Pal server folder and double-click on the palserver.exe file.

  • A new window will open up, you have to close it out after some time. Right-click inside the folder create a new text document, and name it “start server. bat“.
  • It will ask you if you want to change the file type, and you have to press Yes.
  • Now open up the “start server. bat” file and input the following command. After that, tap on File at the top right corner and save the file.
start Palserver.exe. ~Servername"(your server name)" ~port(your port) ~player32 ~log ~nosteam
  • Now double-click on the start server.bat file and then close it. Open the DefaultPalWorldSsettings.ini file, copy the text from “/script” to the bottom, and then close the file.
  • Open up the Pal folder, go to the saved folder, and navigate to config. Double-click on the Windows server and open the PalWorldsettings.ini file with a text editor. Past the text you copied earlier in this file and then scroll to the right side.
  • Input your admin password, server name, and server description. After that, tap on File at the top right corner and save the file to apply changes.

Join dedicated server

This section will take you through the steps to join your dedicated Palworld server after successfully creating it.

  • Launch the game tap on Join Multiplayer Game on the home screen and then input your external IP in the Direct Connect option. If you are playing on the same LAN, then input your internal IP address.
  • After that, input “8211” as the port just next to it and hit the Connect button.
    Now you will get into your server and can also invite your friends to join it.
