Upgrading your living ship storage is a fairly simple thing to do, all you need are spawning sacs, which can be either easy to get or difficult depending on whether you get lucky or not. You will need to have a capital ship/freighter and frigates to send out on expeditions.
Spawning sacs can be a reward for completing fleet expeditions as when they return, they have a chance of bringing back spawning sacs. It also doesn’t matter what expedition you do as any expedition type has a chance at bringing back spawning sacs.
Once you have a spawning sac, all you are going to do is have the living ship you want to upgrade your primary ship and use the spawning sac in your inventory. It will give you the option of upgrading your living ship’s inventory.
