This guide will show you how to complete the Rime game, offering a detailed walkthrough with numerous steps to follow. The game presents players with two potential endings to achieve their escape. The guide includes both textual details and accompanying images to assist players throughout the process.
Normal Ending
First, you must open a book and see a picture of windows in a room. You will be trapped looking at the snow through the windows in that room.
Look down using the directional arrows to examine the room, there is a table with a picture above on the right side of the room. You will find a large exit door with various boxes on the wall.
There is a small desk, a ladder, and a stove on the left side. Also, an elevator door with a picture on the wall just opposite the main door, and a balcony if you look up.
Open the top drawer of the small desk to collect a key, then use the key to open the electric box on the back wall. Grab the batteries from the box, and then head inside the elevator. Grab the binoculars from the wall, then exit the elevator, and use the binoculars to read the signs at the windows above the main door.
Click on the small draw of the table and turn the knob using the directional arrows to open the door. You can use the symbols above to turn it.
Grab the remote control unit from the drawer, and tap on the arrow to turn it over. Open the back panel, place the batteries inside, and then close it.
Open the box on the wall near the main door and note the pattern of shapes on the small sign plate.
Select the button on the remote control that has the shape of one, and then hit the rectangle button to activate it. Now tap the button on the right side of the wall box. The light will turn green if you have the correct control settings. Then you will be able to collect a fuse from the box.
Click on the wooden crate on the floor and collect another fuse from the floor. Head back to the electric box, place 2 fuses in it, and pull the level to turn on the power.
Now you have to enter the elevator and go to the 2nd floor using the lever.
Go to the left side of the door and collect an empty can from the floor, then tap the metal box on the floor, while looking out from the balcony and grab a hook from the top.
Open the door of the elevator and tap the hole on the back wall in the lower left corner to collect a Phillips head, then enter the elevator and move down to the ground floor.
Tap on the knife on the table, then bring the binoculars from your inventory and cut the string from them. Take the string in your inventory and combine it with the hook.
Head up to the small floor vent on the left of the elevator and use the string/hook in it to pick a drawer knob. After that, add the knob in the lower drawer of the small desk to open it and then collect the Matches.
Go to the table, use the Phillips head rod to loosen the vice jaws of the bench vice, and grab the small metal fixture. Also, collect the Phillips head back and a newspaper from the table.
Next, you have to climb up the ladder and collect the sheet of paper from the frame on the left side. You can have a look at the paper for a clue.
Click on the box on the left side of the main door, use the small metal fixture on the lock, and slide it to the left side. Open the box and use the paper clue to set all the nine switches correctly.
Look around the room and you will find there are nine lights in total. Go to the main door and tap on the padlock at the bottom of the door, you will find that this padlock has nine pins. You have to set these pins according to the lights and match the lights that are on.
Open up the padlock and remove the bar from it, then open the door a little and collect the square part from the snow. After that, take snow using your empty can.
Now open up the stove, place the newspaper inside it, and light it up using the matches. Place the snow can into the stove to turn the snow into hot water. Now add the hot water to the frozen bucket grab the screwdriver handle, then combine it with the Phillips head rod to craft a screwdriver.
Climb up the ladder to the hatch and use the screwdriver on the screw holding the metal catch to open up the door. Move to the other end of the balcony and use the screwdriver on the four screws of the small box to open it up. View another symbol diagram by tapping on the piece of metal and notice the arrangement of shapes.
Grab the remote control unit from your inventory and press the rectangle button to reset. After that, press the buttons according to the drawing on the piece of metal to activate it, and then you can open the metal box to grab the Iron Box.
Make sure the elevator is on the second floor, enter the elevator door to go to the shaft, and collect the round part on the top of the small plate. Head up again and use the match to light up the cracked hole in the wall by the floor. After that, pick up a key inside it.
Now use the key on the lock of the wooden crate on the left of the main door and open it up to find a second lock with three dials. You will need clues from three places with an X on them to unlock this.
There is an X and a square with an arrow above every clue, you have to find these clues and match the position of the X to one of the rows in the lock. After that, move the dial to the square that has the arrow above it in the clue, then press the Square button to open the wooden box. After that, you can grab a spanner.
Now go to the picture frame on the left of the elevator door, and use the spanner to remove the nuts of the frame. Open the frame and grab the Crank handle.
Enter the elevator shaft, use the crank handle in the hole on the right to open the left hatch door, and collect the book and the coin.
Move down to the second floor using the ladder, open the elevator door, and click on the hole at the bottom left side. Place the iron rod in the hole, then enter the elevator and descend. The iron bar will stop the elevator halfway down.
Tap the plate with two screws, remove the screws using the coin, and then grab the key.
Now head to the second floor and unlock the small locked box at the end of the balcony using the key to get the crumpled paper. After that, collect the paper with a clue and the Triangular part.
Next, you need to go to the table on the ground floor to find two more paper clues, each paper shows the position of a square, a triangle, and a circle. Bring out the iron box, and place three parts into the correct holes of the Iron box using the paper clues.
Tap on the lever, take the wire brush, and then head to the picture on the back wall to have a look at the metal box behind it. You will find that the plate in the bottom left corner is dirty, so clean it using the brush to reveal another diagram. Copy this diagram on the remote control, activate it to open this box, and grab the parchment from it. It will give you another clue.
Have a look at the 3-dial lock on the wooden crate near the main door and reveal a letter using the wire brush on the dials. Move every space back and forward on the 3 dials to check the letters and then use the clue to find a 4-letter word.
Bring out the book from your inventory and use the code word to unlock it, then turn the pages until you find the key. Grab it and use it to open the door and escape the house.
Remember that you will still be in the mysterious book world, and to finish the game, you have to still look for the clues and the True Ending.
True Ending
Pick the padlock from the main door and then tap twice to remove the latch from it. Go to the elevator shaft, and make sure the elevator is on the second floor to access the hole at the back.
Use the latch to remove the screws, and grab the Iron plate. Tap on the iron plate to turn it over, and grab a paper fragment. Use the ladder to go to the second floor, and make sure that the iron bar is in the hole at the back of the elevator. Move the elevator down and let it get stuck halfway, then open the book and place the paper fragment on the first left page there.
A cut scene will start where you try to escape the book world but the fragment is not enough. Click on the book to return to the room.
Enter the elevator on the second floor and pull the lever on the wall to descend a chain. Head to the ground floor using the ladder, enter the elevator shaft and view the chain from the wall hanging above the heavy box.
Combine Latch and Padlock to complete it, and hook the chain to the box handle using the Padlock. Go back to the second floor, enter the elevator, and pull the lever to lift the box.
Take a look at the metal plate sign on the chest to find another symbol, then use the remote control, and press the buttons to match the symbol.
After that, open up the chest to get the second Paper fragment, then add it to the first page of the book in your inventory. Finally, complete the picture for the True Ending of the game.
