Red Dead Online introduces many roles to choose from, such as Trader, Collector, Hunter, Naturalist, or, the most popular one, Bounty Hunter. Players can select these roles and then have to complete the corresponding quests that come with them. Bounty Hunter quests track wanted men and women and bring them to the concerned Sheriif’s office to collect bounties. This guide will look at all the tricks and tips through which players can swiftly level up the Bounty Hunter role. Without further ado, let’s jump in.
Buying Bounty Hunter Role
Players can buy the Bounty Hunter Role, irrespective of their level. It’s the only role in Read Dead Online that will pay Gold for completing its missions. Unsurprisingly, many people choose the Bounty Hunter as their first role. Players can choose it by opening their Online Menu and clicking on the Bounty Hunter.
Alternatively, players can head to Rhodes and locate the Bounty Hunter Board. These boards are usually placed outside a Sheriff’s office. After approaching the board, a cut scene will be triggered, and the game will offer the Bounty Hunter License for 15 Gold Bars. Players with insufficient Gold bars can return anytime to buy the License necessary for this role.
Prestigious Bounty Hunter License
Visiting the same Bounty Hunter Board will also display the option to buy the Prestigious Bounty Hunter License for 30 Gold bars if you still need to buy the regular License. Players having a regular license can buy the Prestigious License for 15 Gold Bars.
The Prestigious License is crucial to this role as it upgrades the Bounty Hunter Role and gives extra ten levels with different rewards. It also unlocks three exciting Legendary Bounty Missions and, most importantly, Infamous Bounty Missions. This Prestigious License can be bought separately at any time, but players should buy this for the complete Experience of the Bounty Hunter Role.
Bounty Missions
After purchasing the Bounty Hunter License, players can accept Bounty Missions by interacting with Bounty Boards throughout the various towns and train stations. The Bounty Board has a distinctive orange icon, and players can easily find it on their mini-map. The Bounty Board has at all times three Wanted posters to select from.
Different types of missions are available depending on the level of the player. Initially, Players will start with $1 missions, and then $2 missions will become available at Level 5. Upgrading to Level 10 will unlock $3 missions and Tier 3 Regular Missions. As stated above, Infamous Bounty Hunter Missions will become available after purchasing the Prestigious Bounty Hunter License. Players can toggle between different posters to select missions.
The primary difference between these tiers is the amount of money and experience a player will receive. The amount of Gold will stay the same, irrespective of the tier. For example, in Tier 2 missions, players earn 25% more money and experience than in Tier 1. Subsequently, Players will earn 50% more money and experience in Tier 3 and Infamous Bounty Missions than in Tier 1.
Maximum Payout
Players looking to level up fast and earn more money should know some things. First, players earn twice as much money if they bring their targets alive. It’s crucial not to kill your Bounty targets.
In some missions, there will be more than one main target. Players will earn more money, but the experience remains relatively the same. For example, the bonus for bringing four or more targets is just 20%.
The real difference in money, gold, and experience earned is directly proportional to the time spent on the mission. The timer starts when the player selects the mission on the Bounty Hunter board and after the cutscene. Sometimes the timer is visible; sometimes, it’s not. You can start a timer on your phone to keep an eye on the time.
Players completing these quests in under three minutes will get zero gold and a small amount of money and experience. The maximum amount of Gold is received after spending 30 real-world minutes on a quest, but that’s too long. It is recommended to spend 9-12 minutes per quest to get the maximum amount of gold, money, and experience per minute.
Legendary Bounties
Players should focus on Legendary Bounty Missions from the beginning. They can be accessed by pressing the ‘Y‘ button when accessing the Bounty Hunter Board. The Legendary Bounty missions are challenging and have different levels of difficulty starting from one star and going all the way to five stars. They have the same payout in gold and experience, but cash varies from Bounty to Bounty.
The Legendary Bounties are the most dangerous bounty targets across the five states. They have their backstories and cutscenes and reward significantly more than normal bounties. The highest payout missions are Etta Doyle, Tobin Winfield, Red Ben Clempson, and “Shepherd” Virgil Edwards. The Virgil Edwards bounty is only unlocked upon obtaining the Prestigious Bounty Hunter License.
Players have to progress through single-star bounties to get to two stars, and so on. Upon reaching five stars, players won’t be able to decrease the difficulty. Five-star Legendary Bounties pay 50% more cash and experience than single-star bounties.
There’s only one drawback to Legendary Bounties since they can be played from Level 1. Each Legendary Bounty has a cool-down period of 48 minutes in real-time. The cool-down period discourages players from grinding all of these Legendary Bounties consecutively non-stop. Fortunately, there’s a way to fill up the 48 minutes.
Infamous Bounty Missions
It’s pertinent to have a Prestigious Bounty Hunter License. Obtaining this License allows players to complete Infamous Bounty missions. These missions are much more interesting than the regular Bounty missions; their payout is much higher and allows the player to fill their time during the cool-down period of Legendary Bounty.
Especially the Tier 2 Bounty Hunter Missions are boring and taxing, consisting of tracking a bounty target, which takes up quite a bit of time. Another benefit of the Infamous Bounty missions is that each Bounty Board has its unique chain of three Infamous Bouty Missions, and after completing them one by one, players will receive a one-time bonus of $75. This hefty amount is vital for Beginners.
There’s also a cool-down period for the Infamous Bounty missions, but the cool-down period is restricted to a single Bounty Board, so players can find another Bounty Board and attempt another Infamous Bounty Mission. Completing these quests will help players pass the 48 minutes cool-down period of the Legendary Bounty.
Daily Rewards
Players looking to earn additional experience should always complete the Daily Challenges. These are found by opening the Left Menu and selecting Daily Challenges. Players should then select the Bounty Hunter option, and this will display the challenges a player needs to do.
Completing these challenges will earn you gold and role experience. In the beginning, players will have only one Daily challenge. At Level 5, players will find two Daily Challenges, and at Level 10, there will be three Daily Challenges.
Reinforced Lasso & Bolas
It’s crucial for players in the Bounty Hunter role to purchase the Reinforced Lasso. Available for $350, it will be unlocked by leveling up the Bounty Hunter Role. The Reinforced Lasso significantly increases the time it takes for a target to untie the restraining Lasso. Players should also buy Bolas, as it helps to catch running targets by tying their legs together. It is unlocked after Level 10 and costs $30.
Knocking out your target will further prolong the time it takes for the target to untie its restraining bonds. To Knockout a target, first tie up the target, equip the Lasso or Bolas in your hand, and press the Fire button to kick your target. Try aiming for the head, and you’ll have to kick it a few times to cause a Knockout.
A Knockout message will be displayed on the screen when the enemy is knocked out. Do not kick targets after the Knockout, as this may kill the target. Knocking out targets will help players gain experience and level up the player’s health bar. Delivering Knocked out targets will cause the Sheriff to assume the target is dead, but players will still get paid for the alive target.
Players can drop targets before the Sheriff’s office, and the targets won’t run away. Additionally, holding a target on your shoulder near the Sheriff’s office will cause the target to remain immobile and not open its bonds. Players looking for a higher payout by increasing time can opt for fishing, hunting, or completing daily challenges.
Delivering Multiple Bounty Targets
The game recommends buying a Bounty Hunter Wagon to deliver multiple targets or posse of gang members. It’s advantageous when transporting multiple targets; they can’t escape from the Wagon. It’s expensive at $437 and is unlocked after reaching Level 10. There’s also a hack for players unable to pay the high price. This method only works for two targets.
Players should tie and knock out both targets. Place one target on your horse and get another horse and throw the other target on the second horse. Players should seat themselves on the second horse and make their way toward the Sheriff’s office. Players should call for their horse after every 10 seconds to make sure the other horse with the bounty target is following them. This method is an inexpensive way to transport two targets.
There’s another tip for those who need help completing Daily Challenges. For example, in a Daily Challenge of using Bolas on 3 targets, players can first use the Bolas on a single target, tie them up and then release them. Run after them and use Bolas gain. The game doesn’t differentiate between the same and multiple Bounty targets. This hack can also work when asked to use Hog-Tie on multiple targets.
Reinforced Lasso and Tracking Arrows available from Fences are a must-have for completing Daily Challenges, and players should buy them as soon as they can afford them.
Role Rewards
Players will unlock several skills with the Bounty Hunter Role. The most useful ability unlocked is using Eagle Eye while sprinting or galloping on a horse. This incredible ability allows players to search for Collectibles and Treasure Maps while roaming on their horse. It is also used to identify valuable Plants or pick up trails.
The second useful skill unlocked is the ability to duck while riding a horse. A very advantageous ability in combat, it allows the player to duck behind the horse while riding for a short duration. Hold the Aim button and then Press the Jump button to duck behind the horse when mounted. This ability is useful for both PvP and PvE.
Spinning Weapons
Players can also execute tricks with their revolvers. Equip a revolver in your hand and double press ‘LB,’ and Hold down the ‘RB‘ button. A menu of various tricks will appear on the bottom right of your screen.
Select the trick and Hold down the corresponding button to execute a variety of tricks. These include Shoulder Toss, Reverse Spin, Alternating Flips, and Figure Eight Toss. At higher levels, players will be able to spin two weapons at the same time.
Infinite Gold
Players with a Prestigious Bounty Hunter License and reaching the maximum Level 30 can convert their Bounty Hunter Role experience points to Gold Bars. This conversion can be done by opening Menu, selecting the Progress option, choosing the Awards options, and heading to the Bounty Hunter option.
In the Bounty Hunter Option, the player will find an award for 10,000 Experience points for the Bounty Hunter Role. This option allows players to convert 10,000 Bounty Hunter Experience points to $100 in cash and 0.5 Gold Bars.
Selecting this option will also reset your points, and players can do this conversion infinite times, considering players can amass 10,000 points. This award can be reset infinite times, and players can pin it on their Free Roam Menu to track their progress and get free Gold Bars whenever needed.
That’s all from this comprehensive guide. Remember to acquire the Prestigious Bounty Hunter License, Reinforced Lasso, and complete Daily rewards to quickly level up their Bounty Hunter Role.
