The main threats you will encounter in the lost river are the ghost leviathan, which you have to avoid as best as possible. And the river prowler, you have to avoid them as well, but you can kill it using the prawn suit if you want. You will also face the blood crawler, which you can easily kill or avoid using the prawn suit.

Once you are in the lost river, you have to look on the walls and seafloor of the area for nickel ore and nickel ore deposits if you have a drill arm for the prawn suit.
