The first method to get the fuel is from the red barrels around the world because red barrels will have crude oil and low-grade fuel. The crude oil is used at a refinery to refine into low-grade fuel; you have to put your crude oil in the refinery and then add some wood in there. You have to make sure that your crude oil takes up three slots, as shown in the image below.
After that, turn on the machine which will turn your crude oil into low-grade fuel. To find refineries, you need to head to certain monuments around the game world.
The next method to get fuel is to craft your own low-grade, giving you four low-grade fuel on each craft. To do so, you will need to find and kill an animal and then harvest it for its animal fat with the help of axe. Then collect the cloth, and also you can find these from hemp bushes.
